During your session:

I will be doing my very best to make sure you feel comfortable in front of the camera, it can feel a bit awkward at first!

We’ll ease into it, I’ll give you a bit of direction, guidance and reassurance. For actors, we will keep shooting until there’s a good selection of shots, so there’s no rush unless you have to be somewhere, if you are on a time limit, please let me know.

I work predominantly with natural light, as this allows me to spend more time talking to you instead of fiddling with lights, and I think the results of natural light portraits are flattering!

I work either on location on the streets and alleyways of Inner North Melbourne, or from natural-light studios.

What to wear?

For actors, we will be able to shoot a couple of different “looks” or outfits, I have listed some suggestions below, but what you want to wear is is really up to you!

I recommend simple clothing that’s not too bright or distracting. Do you know what colour suits you best? Plain black or white T-shirts can look a bit “flat”, so if you’re going for something simple, consider choosing clothing with a nice texture or subtle colour.

For a professional or corporate look, a collared shirt, or even just a block-coloured top and suit jacket is a good option.

If you’re unsure of what might look best in your photos, feel free to bring a few options, different colours and styles, and we can see what will work best. I would recommend staying away from super bright colours, wild patterns, or anything too “busy”. It’s important to be comfortable!

Before the shoot:

Make sure you have a good meal before your shoot, drink plenty of water and try to avoid sunburn and hangovers (not a good look!). Check if your outfits need to be ironed or have lint removed.

Makeup

If you have opted to add-on makeup application to your package, you’ve made an excellent choice!

A professional makeup artist will be giving you a natural look, providing coverage and enhancing your features, nothing too heavy, you still want to look like yourself! Please arrive at the studio with no make-up on, so we can get started right away. Please note: Hair styling is not provided. Hair should be styled naturally as you might wear it to a job interview or a first date!

After the Shoot

Approximately three to five days after the shoot, I will send you a web gallery to preview of all the final headshots to look through.

The previews will be straight out of the camera, so no photoshop or retouching will be applied. This is just so you can choose your favourites, then I will edit your final selections. The retouching process is simple and effective, no airbrushing or heavy-handed photoshop, just colour correction, contrasting and retouching any minor blemishes.

Payment information

A 50% booking fee is required to secure your appointment time, this can be paid by direct deposit anytime before your appointment date, but please allow a day or two for the transfer.

The remaining 50% can be paid after the shoot, once your selections have been made and your images are ready to download.
